Once the fight was over, as a consequence of the resulting political circumstances, the society was not able to continue working on the so-called Basque Lyrical Theatre. Nevertheless, its activity in the representation of zarzuelas did not stop.
During the 1940’s under the leading of Arambarri, who, at the same time happened to be the conductor of the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra, the choral will enthusiastically dedicate its efforts to choral-symphonic music, giving first performances in Spain of great composers of the international panorama. Great premieres will alternate then with sacred music series which, organised by the Choral Society itself, were the core of the Bilbao Easter celebrations of the period.

The premieres followed in time until the early sixties, when Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos was choirmaster. A turning point was achieved with the presentation in Spain of Carl Orff’s "Carmina Burana", which, with express permission of the composer, had its first performance in Bilbao, with enormous success.
After Frühbeck’s depart to Madrid to get hold of the conduction of the Spanish National Orchestra, the Choral Society underwent moments of shading. Low activity and little artistic reaching, leaving aside certain particular events, were the main feature of this phase.
