J. LUIS ORMAZANBAL, Conductor

The Conservatoire Choir was founded in 1984 urged by the conductor Gorka Sierra, who became its leader. From February 1994 the choir, whose members are mainly pupils from the Bilbao Conservatoire of the Choral Society of Bilbao, has been conducted by Jose Luis Ormazabal.

The choir has performed under the prestigious direction of the batons of Odón Alonso, Eliot Gardiner, Mstislav Rostropovich, Theo Alcantára, Victor Pablo Pérez, Ros Marbá, Daniel Nazaret, Edmon Colomer, Marco Armillato, Hans Graf, Tamas Vasary, Elio Boncompagni, Juanjo Mena, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Giorgio Croci, Paolo Arrivabeni, Jerzy Semkow and Valeri Gergiev amongst others; and accompanied by the Symphony Orchestras of Bilbao, Euskadi, Galicia, Tenerife, The National Symphony of Spain, the J.O.N.D.E, The Royal Philarmonic Orchestra and the Opera Orchestra of the Marinski Theatre of St. Petersburg. They have given several concerts in Madrid, Cuenca, Soria, Barcelona, Sagunto, La Coruña, Toledo, San Sebastian, Palma de Mallorca, Seville, Tenerife, Segovia, Versalles, Nantes.....
